Gather keeps birthdays, anniversaries and gatherings for a group of people and reminds every member at the same moment, wherever they live. To do that we store your account, your groups and their dates in Google Firebase. You sign in with Apple or Google; we never see a password. The app shows ads and lets you watch an ad to raise a limit. We do not sell your data, we do not use your location, and we never read your contacts.
| Data | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Account — your name, sign-in email and the random user id Apple or Google gives us | So your groups follow you to any phone and group members can see who you are. The email is never shown to other members and is never used for marketing. Gather has no profile photos. | Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore) |
| Your time zone (a name such as "Asia/Karachi") and quiet hours | To show times your way and to delay reminders during your quiet hours. It comes from your phone's clock setting or your own choice. It is not your location: no GPS, no IP lookup. | Firestore |
| Groups and dates — group names, members and roles, the names, dates and notes you add, an optional phone number for "Send wishes" | This is the product. A date is visible only to the members of its group. | Firestore |
| Push notification token | So our server can send the reminders. Removed when you sign out or delete your account. | Firestore, Firebase Cloud Messaging |
| Join requests — when an owner or manager adds you by email: the group, who asked, and when | So you can accept or decline. The email they typed is matched against sign-in accounts and is not stored. Requests expire after 14 days. | Firestore |
| Preferences — theme, accent colour, reminder sound | So the app looks the same on every phone you use. | Firestore + your device |
| Ad unlocks — a counter of limits you raised by watching ads, plus the ad transaction ids | So an unlock is permanent and cannot be claimed twice. | Firestore |
| Voice recordings and imported sounds — a reminder message you record, or an audio file you pick | To play as your own reminder sound. The microphone is used only while you record. The file stays on your phone and is never uploaded. | Your device only |
| App integrity check — a token from Apple App Attest or Google Play Integrity | So only the real Gather app can talk to our server, which protects your data from scripts and fake apps. It contains no personal data. | Firebase App Check |
| Crash reports — stack trace, device model, OS version | To fix bugs. They contain no names, emails or dates. | Firebase Crashlytics |
| Usage events — screens opened, groups created, with no content | To see which features are used. | Firebase Analytics |
Only the members of the group a date belongs to. Group owners decide who joins (by invite link or code) and can remove anyone. Invite links expire after seven days or twenty uses. An owner or manager can also add someone by email: if that email belongs to a Gather account, the person gets a request to join and decides themselves. The app always answers the same way, so nobody can use it to find out whether an email has an account. Our server reads the data only to send the reminders and to enforce the limits described in the app. Nobody at BigInt reads your dates by hand except to answer a support request you sent.
Gather offers Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In only. Apple may give us a private relay email instead of your real one; that works the same. We never receive or store a password.
Gather shows a small banner on its three main screens and lets you choose to watch a rewarded ad to unlock more groups, seats or reminders. Ads are served by Google AdMob. In regions where consent is required (EEA, UK, Switzerland) a consent dialog appears before any ad loads, and on iPhone the system asks whether ads may use your advertising identifier. If you decline, ads are still shown but not personalised. See how Google uses data. There are no ads inside a reminder, on a date page or in any form.
Gather is for adults organising family dates. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Dates about children (a child's birthday) are entered by adult members and belong to the group that entered them.
See and change your data in the app: Settings › Your profile, and every date you have the role to edit.
Leave a group at any time; the group keeps its dates, you stop receiving them.
Delete your account in Settings › Delete account. This removes your profile, your memberships, your push tokens and every group you own (you can transfer a group first). Your Apple or Google sign-in link is revoked. Deletion is immediate; backups are overwritten within 30 days. Without the app, see how to delete your account.
Export: email us and we send your groups and dates as a file within 30 days.
If you are in the EEA or UK you also have the rights to restrict or object to processing and to complain to your data protection authority. Our legal basis is the contract with you (running the service) and, for ads, your consent.
Google Cloud, United States region (Firebase project "gather-bigint"). Google is our processor under the Firebase data processing terms.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we update this page and the date at the top, and tell you in the app's release notes. The date at the top is the version you are reading.
